Let’s get the conversation going… All welcome!

To mark Dying Matters Week, CBC Ltd, in collaboration with Cambridge University Hospitals, is running a Dying Matters Cafe facilitated by Tina O’Hara, Lead Nurse for End of Life Care at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

There will be free tea and coffee – please register so we know how much to order! It is a drop-in event, so you can come and leave whenever suits you.

What is a Dying Matters Cafe?

A safe space to chat about all aspects of death and dying.

It’s also worth stating here that Dying Matters Cafes are not:

  • A bereavement support or grief counselling setting. Dying Matters Cafes don’t work for people who, for whatever reason, aren’t able to discuss death comfortably and openly. There are many projects better set up for this.
  • Dying Matters Cafes aren’t an opportunity to give people information about death and dying – regardless of how good or important it is. Rather we create time to discuss death without expectations.
  • Dying Matters Cafes don’t work as a method of community engagement, research or consultation. It shouldn’t be used for these purposes.

We have established this structure to keep the Dying Matters Cafe . This is also to prevent the use of this concept by those with an interest in leading people to conclusions, products or a specific course of action.

How to find The Hub on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus

The Hub is very easy to find – but it might not be where you expect it to be! It is on the same side of Francis Crick Avenue as the new railway station/guided busway – it’s just a bit further along. What Three Words reference here: https://w3w.co/hype.learn.rated.

Please use W3W and not Google Maps!

This event is part of the CBC Wellness Campaign – a series of webinars and events supporting the 23,000+ people who work on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, many of whom are at the forefront of the changing face of healthcare. However, these events are also for anyone: you don’t have to work here and there is no charge to attend.
