Join Dr Rachel Morris of Wild Monday at this fringe event of the Cambridge Wellness Festival as she talks about:

How to ditch the super-hero and be more super-human

Optimising Performance without Sacrificing your Well-being.

In healthcare, many of us are experiencing overwhelming workloads due to unlimited patient demand, lack of funding and staff shortages. Healthcare professionals are often described as ‘heroes’, but when we feel squeezed on all sides, and can’t give our patients the time and level of service that they need, we beat ourselves up, feel frustrated and guilty which adds to the vicious cycle of stress and overwhelm.

In this talk, we’ll examine the unhelpful ‘hero’ mindsets we can find ourselves in, which cause us to ignore our human limits and become exhausted and burned out. We’ll explore how to think differently about our professional roles and say no and set boundaries around our work, so that we can feel calmer, get control of our workload, and thrive rather than just survive at work.

Getting to the Wellness Festival

There are many ways to get to the campus and we would encourage you to consider travel sustainably. The Green is the green space between Papworth Hospital and the new AstraZeneca building. You can find it via What 3 Words or Google Maps, or look out for signposts on the day.

Arrive by park and ride

Our campus is linked with the Cambridgeshire Park and Ride scheme via Babraham and Trumpington Park & Rides. It’s free to park for up to 18 hours, you just pay for your return. Pricing starts from £3.50; you can plan your journey on their website.

Arrive by bus

Addenbrooke’s Hospital has its own bus station at the Hills Road entrance to the site. We have over 60 local bus services an hour during weekdays. Plan your journey now online or call Traveline on 0871 200 2 233. We are also close to the Babraham and Trumpington Park & Ride schemes.

Arrive by car

The campus and its hospitals are well signposted from most parts of Cambridge. If you are driving from outside Cambridge, there is easy access to the campus via Addenbrooke’s Road, signed from Junction 11 on the M11.

Car parking for patients and visitors is located in one of our two multi-storey car parks located at car park 1 or car park 2. Each of these car parks operates a pay on foot system where customers make their payment for parking on exiting the car park.
